Coconut Cake- Costa Rica

 Costa Rica was found in 1502 by Christopher Colombus and he named the country Costa Rica because it translates to ‘rich coast’ and he believed there were precious metals in the land. More than a ¼ of their land is dedicated to conservation, and contains more than 5% of the globe’s biodiversity. Coconut cake Prep time: 25 minutes Oven time- 1 hour Makes 12 large slices Ingredients- 2 cups (250g) plain flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 250g butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 5 eggs 1 teaspoon coconut essence 1 cup buttermilk 1 cup shredded coconut Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease and flour a 25cm ring tin. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs thoroughly, one at a time. Mix in coconut essence. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing well with each addition. Fold in coconut. Pour batter into prepared tin. Bake in preheated oven for 1 h

Crepes- France

France is located next to Italy and Spain. France was found by Hugh Capet in 0987 and called Gaul. Did you know that France has 265 different kinds of cheese? The population is more than 66.7 million people and the capital is Paris, the city of love. Crepes Ingredients 1 cup flour 1tsp caster sugar 240ml milk 2 eggs Directions Place ingredients in a food processor or blender with a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth, then strain into a jug. Cover and set aside to rest for 30 minutes at room temperature. Dip a piece of paper towel in melted butter and use to brush base of a 16cm non-stick crepe pan or frypan over medium heat. When hot, pour in just enough batter to cover the base. Tilt pan so batter covers base in a thin film and pour any excess back into the jug. Cook crepe for about 1 minute until underside is golden, then use a metal spatula to flip. Cook other side for just under a minute until golden Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. Italy is found in Europe next to France and Switzerland and the sea surrounding Italy is the Mediterranean. The capital is Rome, Rome is famous for their architecture like, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum and more. Italy was home to some very famous people including Galileo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Christopher Columbus. Lasanga Makes: 12 servings Oven time: 1 hour, 20 mins Ingredients 450g lean ground beef 2 and a 1/2 cups grated mozzarella 2 cups ricotta cheese 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup parsley 12 lasanga sheets, uncooked 1 jar of your favourite tomato pasta sauce/puree or make your own 1 and a 1/2 cups water Directions: Heat oven to 175℃ Brown meat in large pan on medium-high heat. Meanwhile, mix 1 ¼  cups mozzarella, ricotta, ¼ cup Parmesan, parsley and egg until blended. Drain meat, return to skillet. Stir in pasta sauce. Pour water into empty sauce jar, cover and shake well. Vietnam is located next to Cambodia, the sea surrounding Vietnam is the South China Sea. Vietnam is famous for it’s food and the War, which natives call the American War. In 1954 the Vietnamese War began and more than 3 million people were killed, large parts of the country was scattered with landmines and its cities and towns were badly damaged. The war ended in 1975 and people had to live in refugee camps, many people died in these camps because of starvation and diseases. On a happier note their food is delicious!
